Cleaning the magnesium and dirt should be done in a horizontal position, following these steps:
– General Cleaning: The Olympic bar should be cleaned using a mild detergent on a lint-free cloth, avoiding the area where the sleeve and shaft meet. If the bar becomes wet or cleaning liquid seeps into the area where the sleeve and shaft join, the bar's performance and safety may be affected.
– Regular Sleeve Cleaning: The barbell's sleeves should be cleaned periodically to remove dust, debris, and magnesium (if used). A soft-bristled brush can be used to clean the exterior, ensuring the sleeves rotate smoothly without obstructions.
– Knurl Cleaning (the textured part of the bar): To remove magnesium, sweat, and other dirt that may accumulate on the knurl, it is recommended to use a nylon bristle brush. Avoid using metal brushes to prevent damaging the bar's finish.
– Corrosion Protection: Apply a protective oil to the bar periodically, especially if the bar is stored in damp environments, to prevent oxidation and rust. Low-viscosity oils are recommended for this care.

If the Olympic barbell is used daily, it should be cleaned at least once a week.
